Who is La Vache?

The word ‘Vache’ is French for cow and at this particular moment in her life, the Pilgrim is feeling rather connected to this fine, steady creature for a few reasons:

  • Minnesota is (or used to be) known as a great place to have a dairy farm.  Dairy farms have lots of lovely cows.
  • Mauritius had an approximate 70% Indian/Hindi population while Ms. Pilgrim lived there.  Cows are sacred.
  • France, in particular Normandy, has amazing farms with some of the most gorgeous cows.  Le beurre au sel de guérande – nothing else needs to be said.

The picture of the cow that is featured is a rather friendly fellow located just down the country lane.
